The automotive industry demands valve -train components that work well at high stress and offer low wear resistance at marginal lubrication. They also want these components at a low cost, with improved emissions, and guaranteed high-performance materials behavior, together with a robust and proven manufacturing technology. PCL has been meeting these requirements in the American, European, and Asian markets, including the Indian Subcontinent and Japan.
PCL today manufactures fully machined and as cast camshafts as per customer requirement for SOHC, DOHC, V6 & V8 engines with VCT or Non VCT application.
Cast Iron offers several benefits such as Improved corrosion resistance, castability along with homogenous hardness & structures over the cross sections.
In Camshafts manufactured using this technology Cast Iron is strengthened by Manual chill placement to achieve higher hardness on the Cam Lobes .
Ductile iron is a modern metallurgical innovation that's also known as spheroidal iron or nodular cast iron. Ductile Iron casting generally can be strengthened by heat treatment. Ductile Iron has improved mechanical properties, including higher strength, toughness & ductility.
Camshafts manufactured using this technology can be chilled Cast Iron or Ductile Iron camshafts with steel trigger wheel, gears etc fitted onto it.
In this process the cam lobe, fuel lobes, trigger wheel etc. is assembled on a high specification steel tube using force free heat shrink technology. With this technology, the internal stress generated after assembly is minimize, which in turn gives a better life of the product. As no castings are required for assembled camshafts, the carbon footprint is reduced.
